Christian Tsui Hesse, better known by his stage name Chris Hesse, was born in Ghana on August 29, 1932. He is a well-known cinematographer, filmmaker, film administrator, photographer, and Presbyterian minister, and is best known for his work on several critically acclaimed films, including 1980’s Heritage Africa and 1980’s Love Brewed in the African Pot (1989). Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, used him as his personal photographer. Chris Hesse contributed to the visual history of the nation’s political evolution and leadership.
