The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, alongside the Police Management Board (POMAB), has promoted 17 officers in recognition of their role in recovering suspected narcotics and firearms.

The officers, drawn from the Volta and Ashanti Regions, were commended for their participation in operations that led to the interception of ten wrapped packages suspected to be narcotics, valued at GHS1,032,650, and the recovery of firearms.

A press release shared with the Ghana News Agency stated that the promotions were awarded on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in acknowledgment of the officers’ professionalism and dedication.

“The promotions were granted to officers who played key roles in separate operations, including the interception of ten wrapped packages suspected to contain cocaine and other narcotics in the Volta Region, as well as the recovery of an AK47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight live AAA rounds during a routine patrol in Jacobu, Ashanti Region,” the release said.

The IGP and POMAB members congratulated the officers for their elevation and praised them for upholding the Service’s core values of discipline, courage, and professionalism.

IGP Yohuno urged the promoted officers to view their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and encouraged all personnel to remain diligent, emphasizing that excellence and integrity are the foundation for recognition and promotion within the Ghana Police Service.
