The late Mother and Aunt of Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Approaches Series Ghana Limited was laid to rest at Sefwi Subri Nkwanta in the Western North Region.
The mother, Obaapanin Ama Akyeamaa, died on Sunday, March 09, 2025, at her private residence in Kumasi after a short illness at age 91.
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the NPP Presidential Aspirant, was accompanied by his Director of operations for the campaign Mr. Appiah Mensah and Deputy head of security, Mr. John Ofori Atta Dowonne to join hundreds of mourners to pay their last respect to the late mother of the former MP.
Also present at the funeral were the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye, the General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK) among other political stalwarts.
The rest were Western North Regional Minister Mr. Petty Wilbert Brentum, the Western North NDC Regional Chairman and Council of State Member, Mr. Michael Aidoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso, Mr. Bright Asamoah Brefo, Lawyer Stephen Bennieh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Post, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Mr. Sebastian Obeng, the former MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai and DCE for Sefwi Akontombra Mr. Paul Andoh and Mr. Yawson Amoah.
Some Members of Parliament (MP) both current and former, including the Member of Parliament for Obuasi West, Mr. Kwaku Kwarteng, Member of Member for Offinso South, Mr. Isaac Yaw Opoku, Mr. Akwasi Boateng, former MP for Bosome Freho Constituency, among others as well as Constituency and Regional Executives of the party, were also present.
The atmosphere at funeral grounds was charged with drumming and dancing as people filed past the body of late Ama Akyeamaa and Yaa Saah pay their last respect.
The funeral also attracted a lot of religious leaders, business mogul, traditional leaders, including the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Chirano Traditional Area and Vice President of Western North Regional House of Chiefs, Okogyeman Kwaku Gyamprah lll, Chief of Sefwi Boinzan who doubles as the Acting President of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council and Nana Marfo Payin, Abakomahene of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku ll, Chief of Sefwi Akoti.
Institutions such as Asante Gold Coorperation Bibiani, Bibiani Government Hospital, Sefwiman Rural Bank, National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), National Identification Authority (NIA), Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, among others were also present to mourn with Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng.
The former MP, clad in black and white mourning cloth, received thousands of well-wishers at the Sefwi Nkwanta community park funeral grounds, offering condolences to the bereaved family.
The tomb built in honor of the late mother and Aunty of the former MP Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng, with statues erected in their honor, drew large crowds from across the Western North Region and beyond.
